Plant Systematics Research at the University of Florida Herbarium (FLAS)
The wealth of information housed in our amazing collection of ca. 500,000 specimens (vascular plants, bryophytes and lichens) at the herbarium of the Florida Museum of Natural History provides an unparalleled opportunity for use in plant systematics, phylogenetics, conservation genetics, biogeography, climate change research, ecological research, physiological and anatomical research, forensic science, phenological research, as well as numerous other disciplines. We are continuously growing the collection, which is focused on the SE US and Caribbean, although consists of specimens from around the world. Every aspect of the research that we do involves working directly with the collection, and our work would not be possible without this incredible resource.
